The freight wagon drivers of the American west were the lines of both supplies and communication. Here a young farm boy abandons his morning chores to hear the latest news. The driver, posed for action, is set against the rugged and beautiful vista of the American plains.

Bathed in the first streaks of morning light, the natural serenity of the countryside are stirred to excitement by the heavily loaded wagon's arrival. Youthful visions of bold adventures shine in the boys eyes as he rushes to greet the driver. The family dog barks a herald, and chickens add to the excitement as they rush to take advantage of the spilled chicken feed dropped by the boy.
